Ewql Gypsy Vst

I don't claim this is the best example you can find, but here's a motion graphic I did the music and SFX for. The violin is EWQL Gypsy, and the genre is probably close to what you're looking for. This is amazing! Thanks!
Is there any chance you can tell me where you got the information on how to do this? Or could tell me how to setup one of these? I want to do this for some of my other libraries and I think this is a possible substitution for VST Expression mapping.
This could be a huge game changer in my workflow if it works as my mind sees it!

To be honest, VST Expression si much more powerfull, but these Pitchnames are great and much more easy for around 90% of sound libraries, which are using keyswitching only (not CCs).
It's very easy way, how to prepare this Soundset. Just click the 'drum' icon, in the Edit window. Then click the 'tool' buton. Then write names of the notes. Click + buttom to save it, and write the name of the preset.
I made NI Kontakt factory library, a? the moment, I'm preparing few more sound libraries from diferent vendors.
Good luck with your job!

Thanks again very much. Very nice explanation, this is going to be very nice. Especially for the easy libraries with less than 20 articulations.

Hi, and welcome!
It's very easy, of course.
Create Instrument track, and open Edit window. Click on the 'drum' icon, above the keyboard, on the left side. Click on the 'tool' button, named 'Edit Pitch Names'. This displays Edit Pitch Names window. Find preset menu, most down, click on it, and find EastWest folder. Choose your library, and click OK.
At this moment, you will see named MIDI notes. You can use the Editor in this view, or you can switch back to the keyboard. If you switch back to the keyboard, you can't see names of MIDI notes. But if you create any note, and find details of this not on the most left side of the window (there is Start, End, Length, and PITCH). If you click on the Pitch arrow, you will see list of names of all notes. Of course, there is the 'articulation' name. You can click the articulation name here. The note will transpose to the relevant value (note).
Any time, you select the note, you can check, which articulation is set, and you can change it very easy, again.

I'm pretty new to EWQL to begin with. I just got SOP+ and I'm having a bear of a time getting the damned thing to run in S1.
* corrupted driver. so I get that fixed then the driver for voices of passion gets corrupted. I went to bed. I just got up.
* my disk 24 is pitted. ( it's the 16 bit library so I'm only going to use the platinum until I get that and disk 27 replaced).
* I'll manually remove VOP driver and run the VOP disk then apply the update again and see if that works.
It's the x64 driver that's been giving me hell. 32 bit Play engine won't install on Win 7 64.
So my question is where do you put these files of yours on the HD?
Meanwhile I'm composing with generic sounds in GPO4 and will worry about articulations later. I'm waiting for tech support to call back.
These damned libraries are so big I would have paid an extra $125 if they shipped preloaded on a HD. It would have been cheaper time wise. 14 hrs for an incomplete installation?

EastWest libraries are great. But the Play engine is terrible.
If I remember right, there is only one way, how to get libraries on a HDD. You have to buy Terrapack (for Windows or Mac). There are all libraries on the disc, you can just register some of themm, which you own.

You can install the pitch name files directly from within Studio One so you won't have to put them manually in the right location.
Just log in to the Exchange Server in the Studio One Browser, find the articulation files you need and click the green Install button at the bottom of the Browser.
@Martin: Thanks for making these! Will try the Fab Four file.

Looking forward to trying this.
Can you have multiple instrument channels going via different midi channels to multiple patches in Play in S1?

There are many possible applications for Expression Maps. You can...

  • load maps on MIDI or Instrument Tracks,
  • create Track Presets from Instrument or MIDI Tracks with Expression Maps included or
  • use VST Expression Maps in your own project templates.

For more information on Expression Maps and VST Expression please refer to Cubase's operation manual.
